Skype Fixed: sorry we couldn't connect to skype please check your internet connection and try again

Just installed Skype for the first time and all of a sudden, after first installation, "I got sorry we couldn't connect to Skype please check your internet connection and try again" when I was expecting something a little bit more friendly like "Welcome to Skype". Searched the internet, as usual, got some solutions that couldn't solve the problem (They most have solved the problem for other Skype users or Skypers).


Solution:

If your internet connection needs proxy, make sure you enter the appropriate proxy. Entering proxy on internet explorer should easily solve the problem. Better still, you may need to go through Skype settings to set your proxy.


If your internet connection does not need proxy, like in my own case. OK. I once used proxy on Internet Explorer and it almost seems like Internet Explorers' internet access settings is the default for any installed application, in my case, yes it is. Kindly uncheck Proxy Server for Internet Explorers' internet access settings and you will be good to go.

If any of the above could not solve the problem, then you need to try more queries on Google search.
