How to Repair USB Storage

When this happen you will feel like the world have come to an end, nothing seems to be nice in your sight. Perhaps you don’t understand what am saying, you will by the time you realize that your storage facility is corrupt with a lot of important (non-backed-up files) stored inside. How you will know if a drive is corrupt is when you don’t longer have access to it content and whenever you plug it, Windows PC will, always prompt you to format while on Linux the device will refuse to mount and formatting your drive will erase all of your important files/document

Why is your device corrupt?
There are several reasons why your drive went bad, inaccessible (technically, corrupt). It might be any of following:
  1. Hardware Problem: Perhaps there is an internal hardware problem with your drive. For external drive, check or replace your USB cable. For internal drive, this is beyond our scope contact a higher geek(very few geeks can fix that if at all there is any).
  2. Software Problem: If the problem is not an hardware defect then i think there is but one solution, a check disk command that will fix/repair your storage device. Apply the command below.
For Windows Users
    1. If you are using Windows press Windows key + R to open run command box
    2. Type, inside the box, chkdsk /f drive_letter:
    3. Press enter on the keyboard or click OK
    4. Allow Windows to finish the rest

For Linux User
    1. If you are on Linux press CTRL + ALT + T to open your terminal
    2. Inside the terminal window, type chkdsk /f drive_letter:
    3. Press enter on the keyboard or return key
For any of the above OS there will be a process on the command window and you will be prompted for success or failure.
