Tip: Windows XP Password Reset

If you are on the quest to changing an windows XP admin password, without knowing the original password, you are on the right track. Sit back, relax while I show you how to do just that.

One thing I like about PC is that there is more than one way to perform a single task and the most fascinating part of it is that the other way to it is easier and straight forward though might require a little advancement in skill.
This trick is to show you how to reset an account password in a situation whereby someone dropped his/her PC for you to take care of or use, then the person left without telling you the admin password, the fact is if you should shut-down the computer or the computer logs off you cannot longer use it again without knowing the password, for that reason the only option is to change or remove the password before you shut-down or log off.

As we all know if you want to change password in windows PC you will have to go through control panel>>User Account, then choose an account to reset it password of which you will have to know the former password. But here is a way of resetting Windows XP admin password without knowing the previous password.

Here we go

--> Open windows command prompt: Shortcut is Windows Key+R, type CMD and press Enter on your keyboard.

--> In the command line type "net users" (without the quote), this command will display all the user accounts in that PC —Note the user account you want to reset it password.

--> Now type "net user account_name *" (without the quotes), for example if the account name is Admin, type the code bellow in the command prompt.
 net user Admin *
--> New password: You will be asked to type a new password, type the new password and press enter, repeat the password then press Enter.

Note: If you don't want to set any password just hit on Enter twice in the request for password.
