Before you start looking for your computer IP address I hope you know what IP address is all about, alright an IP address is a set of numbers assigned to any electronic device that is part of a computer network, that uses IP (internet Protocol) for communication. Any electronic that is attached to the computer has a means of identification and any computer that is part of network has an IP address. The main reason for IP address in a computer is for them to be able to communicate, although when IP address is mentioned anybody thinks about the computer ONLY.Here is a simple steps if you want to know the IP address of your computer on a network with windows OS (Operating System).
- Click the Start button
- Click on Run
- In the dialog box that opens type 'IPCONFIG' (without the quotes)
- Press Enter. Command prompt will be opened like the one in the image, the computer IP address and other details are displayed
